Airport Construction Update: Terminal 2 Roadway Temporary Detour
Beginning at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18, through Saturday, May 19, at 9 a.m., the roadway in front of Terminal 2 will be rerouted to allow for the installation of two pedestrian sky bridges.
Activity is anticipated to last one night. However, if necessary, the detour will resume on Saturday, May 19, at 11:30 p.m. through Sunday, May 20, at 9 a.m.
The two new pedestrian sky bridges will connect the dual-level roadway to the terminal. They will open when The Green Build is complete in 2013.
Pedestrian Bridge Fun Facts:
- Each pedestrian bridge is more than 100 feet long
- The weight of one pedestrian bridge is equal to about 48 Cessnas or one empty 787 Dreamliner
- Installation of each bridge will take 90 minutes from the time the crane picks up the bridge
- 100 percent of the steel for these bridges was made in the USA
Travelers are reminded to plan ahead and allow extra time as it may take longer than usual to get to the terminal, check in and/or pick up passengers at the airport as a result of The Green Build construction.
