The Access Control Office (ACO) is responsible for the issuance of airport security
identification badges to employees who work and require access to the San Diego
International Airport (SDIA). Individuals who work and require unescorted access
to the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) and Sterile Areas must possess
an airport issued SAN ID badge. Badge issuance is limited to those individuals who
have cleared the FBI-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) as well as the
TSA-based Security Threat Assessment (STA) and have frequent and reoccurring need
for access.
The documents to start the background investigation process for a SAN ID badge are
provided below. Complete and print all documentation required. All signatures must
be in original ink (black or blue). In addition, all badge applicants or current
badge holders must present two (2) forms of identification or documentation when
applying for or renewing a SAN ID badge. Required Identification and/or documentation
must establish identity and employment eligibility. See
List of Acceptable Documents. Additionally, for fingerprint requirements,
see
Fingerprint Instructions. Please contact the Access Control Office (ACO)
at (619) 400-2765 or acocustomerservice@san.org
for any further questions or information that you may need.
